Nigerian artist Adekunle Gold has celebrated a decade in music since his debut hit, ‘Sade,’ by telling how his talent was discovered.
He debuted on the Nigerian music scene in December 2014 with ‘Sade,’ a version of One Direction’s hit song ‘Story Of My Life.’
This music rapidly went viral, gaining him widespread notoriety and laying the groundwork for his future success.
In a recent interview reflecting on his ten years in the music industry, Adekunle Gold explained how Pheelz, a singer-songwriter and producer, assisted him in getting signed to Olamide’s YBNL label.
Adekunle had previously worked as a graphic designer for Olamide, providing cover graphics for artists such as Lil Kesh and Viktor.
He revealed that after hearing his song “Sade,” Pheelz approached Olamide about signing him, which led to his great career in music.
Adekunle Gold rose to prominence under YBNL with his debut album, ‘Gold,’ which included hits like ‘Orente’ and ‘Pick Up.’
Over the course of his ten-year career, he has established himself as one of Nigeria’s most brilliant performers, noted for his exceptional songwriting and performance abilities.
He began as a vocalist who combined urban and traditional Yoruba music, but with his album Afro-pop Vol 1, he rose to prominence as a pop sensation.
Adekunle Gold has published five albums and achieved numerous hit tracks, making him a popular musician in Africa.
