Nigerian musician, television presenter, and activist Charles Chikwuemeka Oputa, widely known as Charly Boy, has urged Nigerian youths to persist in their fight against poor governance and to elevate their protest efforts.
On Tuesday, Charly Boy took to his X handle to encourage young Nigerians to intensify their battle against bad governance, which has led to widespread hunger and insecurity in the country.
The outspoken activist emphasized that the struggle against poor leadership is a fight for survival, not something to abandon halfway. He criticized Nigerian leaders as “thieves, dishonest, insane, and intolerable” individuals who show no concern for the welfare of their citizens.
Charly Boy called for the protests to become “louder and go pro max” to overcome what he describes as “monsters” in leadership.
He stated: “My dear Nigerian youths, by now you should understand the magnitude of what we’re facing. We cannot achieve change without making sacrifices. Those in power are entrenched in corruption.
“We are governed by individuals who are thieves, dishonest, insane, and intolerable, with no regard for our lives. This is the fight of our lives, and you are my pride.
“We can overcome this monstrous situation, but we need to amplify our efforts and go pro max.”
Despite President Bola Tinubu’s order to halt all protests, citing increasing violence contrary to the organizers’ initial promises, demonstrators continued to protest in various parts of the country on Monday. They insisted that the government must address the economic crisis and reduce the high cost of living to alleviate the pervasive hunger affecting citizens.
