Renowned content producer Ogunleye Babatunde Olamide, also known as Oluwadolarz, has said that rather than a drive for financial success, content creation calls for talent and love.
Oluwadolarz said The Nation that although the skit-making business could be profitable, it also requires passion and occasionally can be challenging.
“I feel like a lot of people are joining content creation because they see the cars and houses we post and they think they can make money too. But you have to be passionate and talented to do skit making because it’s frustrating. If you’re not passionate about it, you will get tired. I’ve seen someone who joined skit-making because he wanted to buy a Benz. You have to be loved genuinely, and that takes a lot of work,” said Oluwadolarz.
Speaking about the development of the content creation industry, he stated, “I am happy to see that the industry has gone far. Gone are the days when we used to share flyers for people to go and watch our skits. People didn’t understand what skit-making was. I am talking about 2010, 2011, and 2012. Now everybody understands, and there are people now who want to watch skits. People don’t watch their TV anymore. People now come online just to watch skits. I am happy that the industry has grown, and for people like me who pioneered the industry, I am happy that there are new talents in the industry.”
