Media figure Daniel Regha responded to President Bola Tinubu’s decision to free the minors detained during the nationwide protests in August. The children were held in a cell without food, leading to signs of malnutrition, and a judge later set their bail at N10 million, which stirred controversy on social media.
In his comments, Tinubu called for their release, but Daniel pointed out that this was not something to commend the president for. He argued that Tinubu’s decision was influenced by the global attention on the minors’ situation. However, he emphasized that this does not change the fact that the children were malnourished and their human rights were ignored.
Daniel asserted that the government did nothing in this matter and should not be praised at all.
