The Osun State Police Command has issued a warning, stating that it will not put the state’s peace and security at risk.
The police issued the warning on Wednesday through a statement made by Mohammed Umar Abba, the commissioner of police, and Command spokesperson Yemisi Opalola. They also threatened to keep up their resistance and refuse to let troublemakers ruin the tranquil atmosphere in the state.
According to a statement released by Opalola, the warning follows information that some people were trying to disturb the tranquilly in the state.
The directive made clear that the anonymous people were not pleased with how the state’s peaceful EndBadGovernance countrywide protest was handled and terminated.
The Osun State Police Command seeks to notify the public that it is aware of the actions of certain dishonest individuals who are trying to disturb the peace in the state, according to the statement.
“These people don’t like the nonviolent demonstration (END BAD GOVERNANCE) organised by the Osun State Chapter of the Coalition of Civil Organisations, which was put on hold on August 6, 2024, in observance of the Osun Osogbo Festival.
The public is reassured by the Command that any attempt to compromise the state’s security and peace will not be tolerated.
“The Command will not stand by and let troublemakers ruin the tranquil mood in the State.
“The public is hereby advised to report any unlawful gathering in any part of the state, and to remain calm and go about their lawful activities.”
