Heavy security was observed in the Ondo governorship election.

The Ondo State Governorship election began on Saturday with a robust security presence comprising of police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) officers stationed at crucial locations throughout the state.

Armed security officers were seen at crucial places such as the entrance to Akure, the state capital, major towns, local government secretariats, and major roadways throughout the state.

Our election correspondents indicate that restrictions on human and vehicular movements were generally followed in the majority of the state.

Armed police officers were observed at the Mobile roundabout in Fiwasaye, Akure North LG, while security teams in patrol vehicles were stationed at strategic locations throughout Akure.

In addition, heavy security agents blocked important routes connecting Akoko North-East’s headquarters, Ikare-Akoko.

Police, Nigeria Correction Service officials, NSCDC, and FRSC officers were also visible at the numerous voting stations.

Security troops, including military, police, and NSCDC, were also seen at critical places in Okitipupa, Okitipupa LG.
