Sonia Ighalo, wife of Nigerian footballer Odion Ighalo, has shared her perspective on the ongoing scandal involving Baltasar Engonga, Director of the National Intelligence and Security Service (ANIF) of Equatorial Guinea, whose private videos were recently leaked online. Sonia expressed concern over the release of these videos, which captured Engonga in compromising situations with multiple individuals, and questioned the conduct of government officials involved in the leaks.
Sonia suggested that Engonga might have grounds for a lawsuit against the government for breaching his privacy. She underscored the impropriety of officials making private videos public and emphasized that such matters should remain private, with any response being left to the families directly affected. Noting the tragic loss of life associated with the scandal, she called attention to the need for better professional standards, hinting that more rigorous training could prevent such incidents, and pointed to Nigerian officers as a model for handling privacy and integrity.
She said:
âAs messy as everything is in Equatorial Guinea, if this guy sue the govt he will surely WIN.
âThe officers had no right to release the videos to the World (Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, and so onâŚ) the spouse of those involved should be the one dealing with him in court, humiliating adults for something consensual and someone had lost her life in the process.
*no proper training same thing Nig officers can do.â
