Lawyer Deji Adeyanju has criticized Mahmood Yakubu, the Chairman of Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in the wake of U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris’s election loss. Adeyanju’s remarks appear to be a pointed critique of Nigeria’s electoral practices, as he sarcastically suggested that Yakubu should “turn off the U.S. electoral server” or manipulate the results—alleging practices that some have accused Nigeria’s electoral system of employing. His comments highlight ongoing concerns about transparency and fairness in Nigeria’s election management, drawing a stark comparison to the U.S. electoral process.
Posting on X, the lawyer wrote: “INEC can still save Kamala. What INEC cannot do does not exist. They can switch off the server or change results on IREV
“Yakubu will now be screaming on top of his voice, GO TO COURT.”
On Wednesday, Trump of the Republican party was named the winner of the US presidential election.
He triumphed over Kamala Harris from the Democrat party with a big win.
This makes him the first president to hold a non-consecutive second term after enduring two assassination attempts and a criminal conviction.
