Miss SA Probe: Fraud and identity theft are alleged against Chidimma Adetshina’s mother

The early results of an investigation into the nationality of beauty queen Chidinma Adetshina have been released by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) for South Africa.

Chidimma, a model with Nigerian ancestry, was involved in a recent controversy regarding her eligibility to compete in the 2024 Miss South Africa pageant.

It is said that her parents first met in Johannesburg in the late 1990s and then moved to Pimville.

Following her qualification for the round of 16, the 23-year-old’s nationality became a topic of contention on social media in July.

In a statement released on Monday, South African Home Affairs Minister Leon Schreiber stated that the department opened an inquiry into Chidimma’s citizenship following formal requests for information from Miss SA organisers.

However, the DHA said Adetshina’s mother may have committed fraud and identity theft in a statement and video that were posted late on Wednesday.

Based on the data we have gathered so far, we can say that there are preliminary grounds to suspect that the individual listed as Chidimma Adetshina’s mother in Home Affairs documents may have committed fraud and identity theft.

“Adetshina was a baby in 2021, therefore she was unable to take part in her mother’s alleged illegal acts at that time. An innocent South African mother suffered because she was unable to register her kid, maybe as a result of her identity being taken during Adetshina’s mother’s deception.
