Nigerians have continued to criticize celebrities who have remained silent amid the ongoing #EndBadGovernance and hunger protests, suggesting that government officials may have silenced them through financial incentives or other means.
Recently, Burna Boy addressed these claims, stating that the government does not provide celebrities with any money. However, he did not explain why many celebrities have chosen to stay silent and not participate in the protests.
Nasboi, a rising star in Nigerian music and comedy, has now spoken out to explain his absence from the protests. He revealed that his previous involvement in a protest led to numerous life-threatening messages from various authorities. Despite sharing some of these threats online, he was met with ridicule rather than support.
Nasboi emphasized that he chose not to participate this time to avoid becoming a scapegoat. He also defended his fellow celebrities by echoing Burna Boy’s statement, asserting that they do not receive money from politicians, contrary to popular belief.
He said “Me, protest? Lol. The last time I spoke up, dem use threaten wan finish my life. I come tweeter come post the dm’s of threats, Na laugh people dey laugh for here. A lot of celebrities don’t get money off politics like you insinuate. Buh na just fear of being a scape goat.
