“Nigeria has reached an unprecedented low,” journalist Jimi Disu laments after spending N120,000 on electricity.

Nigerian journalist Jimi Disu has voiced his worries regarding the economic hardships plaguing the country.

In a recent interview on Nigeria Info FM, he described the current situation in Nigeria as unprecedentedly severe.

He shared, “Nigeria has never been this bad. Just this morning, I spoke with a regular person who mentioned that her family has resorted to only one meal a day. Even during the war, conditions weren’t this dire in this area.”

Disu elaborated, “I’m going to spend about N120,000 on electricity for my apartment, and I live alone. In fact, I have two homes: a weekday residence and a weekend place. The N120,000 expense is for my weekend home. In my estate, the minimum electricity bill is N50,000. This situation shows how bad Nigeria has become. If you’re not careful, you might end up selling a house just to pay off some debts and have little left for basic needs.”

He added, “The real struggle now is that saving is impossible because the Naira has lost its value.”
