Joe Igbokwe, a notable member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has publicly criticized Nigerian singer Davido for advising Americans against relocating to Nigeria. During a podcast appearance, Davido warned U.S. citizens about the challenges of living in Nigeria, citing the country’s economic struggles. He noted that, despite Nigeria’s status as an oil producer, its citizens pay higher prices for fuel than those in countries that import oil, and that the economy is in disarray.
Igbokwe, however, called on Davido to retract his statement, emphasizing that Nigeria was the foundation of his success. He argued that such comments from a prominent figure like Davido were damaging and discouraged investment and positivity about the country
On his Facebook page, he expressed his disappointment, stating, “My in-law Davido has made me sad by telling the world in America that Nigeria’s economy is in shambles. This is very sad. I will advise him to retract the statement ASAP. Nigeria made Davido. QED!!!”
