“No amount of money can replace freedom,” says Mr Macaroni.

As the highly anticipated #EndBadGovernance protests approach, Nigerian comedian and activist Mr. Makaroni has voiced his stance, emphasizing that freedom should never be sacrificed for money, positions, or other incentives.

This statement comes amid allegations that the government is paying individuals to oppose the planned protests, which aim to highlight the widespread hunger and hardship facing Nigerians.

Mr. Makaroni stressed the importance of prioritizing freedom over personal gain, criticizing those who would settle for small benefits while overlooking the broader potential for change. He underscored that ignorance and selfishness lead people to accept minor rewards instead of fighting for the greater good.

He wrote, “No amount of money, position, or connection should ever justify sacrificing the freedom of your people. Some individuals have lost their humanity by promoting violence, hate, and bigotry just to access a few crumbs. Their ignorance blinds them to the fact that if we unite, we can claim the whole table.”

In response, Twitter user @lettersby_sam noted how poverty and hunger can easily be exploited to manipulate people into acting against their interests for immediate relief. Another user added, “History shows that unity over a cause is rare. The side with the stronger argument and movement usually prevails. We can only hope the #EndBadGovernance movement will be more impactful than those benefiting from maintaining the status quo.”
