Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has praised Independent National Electoral Commission officers for their professionalism during the ongoing governorship race in Ondo.
Mr Tunji-Ojo, an Ondo native, also complimented the security forces for upholding peace and order.
He spoke shortly after casting his ballot at Polling Unit 17: Ward 3, Okeagbe LGA, at 11:34 a.m.
The minister, who was accredited in minutes utilizing the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) system, reported that the election was also peaceful.
He also praised the high turnout of voters.
“It’s been a peaceful election with officials displaying high-level professionalism coupled with an encouraging turnout of voters,” he stated after casting his ballot.
The exercise has already drawn participation from 17 major parties.
The contest is between incumbent Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the APC and Agboola Ajayi of the PDP.
