Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh was summoned by the Nigeria Police Force to its Abuja headquarters on Friday. The inquiry concerns various counts, including criminal defamation, cyberbullying, and forgery.
According to Muyiwa Adejobi, the force’s public relations officer, the invitation was sent out per the Inspector-General of Police’s IGP Monitoring Unit directive.
Tonto Dikeh’s name was mentioned often in the unit’s inquiry, according to the invitation letter dated August 5, 2024, which was signed by DCP A.A. Elleman, Head of the IGP Monitoring Unit.
The invitation states, “This office is looking into a case that was reported to the Inspector-General of Police regarding criminal defamation, forgery, falsity, cyberbullying, and criminal conversion. Your name and others are included in the case prominently.
In light of the aforementioned, you are cordially invited to an interview with the undersigned via SP Aminu Abdullahi Sokoto on August 7, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., in order to clarify the accusations.
“Your customary assistance in this matter would be greatly valued.”
Dikeh was later released while the inquiry is ongoing, according to Force PRO, who also stated that she was invited as a result of a petition against her.
Adejobi stated, “She was only asked to comment on a petition that was brought against her, and she has since left the unit, while the investigation is ongoing.”
