Regina Daniels responds to the Nigerians who heckled her for criticising violence during the demonstration.

Regina Daniel Nwoke, an actress, responded to the criticism directed at her for opposing violence at the #endbadgovernance demonstration. She claimed that she doesn’t even need love and that she wasn’t speaking to ask for anyone’s affection.

The wife of the billionaire senator responded to the attack on her Instagram account once more this morning. She had posted a video on the platform encouraging Nigerians to boycott violence and protest bad governance during the country’s end-hunger demonstrations, which began on August 1 in several state capitals, including the federal capital territory.

Social media users were harsh on the actress, calling her a “opportunist who married her grandfather” and asking how she could have married such an elderly man in a better country. Some others advised her not to speak up because her husband is the root of the awful government that is being condemned.

The actress responded by posting a video to Instagram, saying she wasn’t disputing her privilege. She did, however, address another issue that was bothering her, namely paying her babysitter and other expenses. She also focused on the events that occurred in Kano State, where demonstrators were observed waving Russian flags and purportedly pleading with Putin to intervene and rescue them.

The actress asked if that is indeed what Nigerians really want, adding that whatever happens in the North has the capacity to affect the whole country.

’Hoisting the Russian flag! Is that what we want? Mind you, whatever happens in the North can get to you. I preached against violence and ignorant Nigerians said it’s because I am privileged and opportune. Yes the fact remains that I am privileged and opportuned  but that doesn’t stop me from understanding that my nanny  needs to be paid extra or that my gateman or my cooks need to be catered for because of insecurity and extra bills to be paid in Nigeria.

The point remains that Nigeria cannot be changed in a day and not by one man. I am not speaking for the government, neither am I speaking for you people to love me because I don’t need it. I am just stating the obvious fact and that is the truth.
