Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso, a prominent Nigerian Islamic singer, has sadly passed away. The news of her death was confirmed on Tuesday morning by Alfa Aribidesi At-Tawdeeh, a priest based in Ilorin, who shared the announcement via his official Facebook page.
Jubril Gawat, a media aide to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, also acknowledged her passing with a brief message on X (formerly Twitter), quoting a verse from the Quran: “Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return. Q 2 V 156.”
Rukayat was widely admired for her enchanting voice, which resonated deeply within the Muslim community. Further details surrounding her death have not yet been disclosed.
