Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, formerly part of the iconic Nigerian music duo P-Square, has reacted to a viral video featuring a French band performing P-Square’s hit track “Testimony (Taste the Money)” at a prestigious state dinner in Paris.

The performance took place on Thursday at the Palais de l’ÉlysĂ©e, during the state visit of Nigerian President Bola Tinubu to France. This visit, aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries, provided the perfect backdrop for this cultural exchange. The French band gave an Afrobeat-inspired rendition of the popular track, blending it with a French twist that resonated with the audience.

The performance caught the attention of both the audience and President Tinubu, as well as First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, who were seen enjoying the lively cultural showcase. The French band’s energetic tribute to P-Square’s music not only highlighted the global reach of Afrobeats but also celebrated the influence of Nigerian music on the world stage.

In response to the viral video, Mr P expressed his excitement and appreciation for the band’s rendition, proud of how P-Square’s legacy continues to transcend borders and touch diverse audiences across the globe. The moment serves as a testament to the growing global recognition of Afrobeats and its influence in both cultural and diplomatic contexts.

On Friday, Peter shared the video on Instagram, captioning it: “Enjoy your weekend! đŸ«Ł #TasteTheMoney”.

Peter’s post comes amidst ongoing tensions with his brother Paul Okoye, known as Rudeboy.

Paul recently accused Peter of appropriating a song titled ‘Winning,’ asserting that it was meant for his forthcoming album.

Producer Vampire Craze disclosed that the track was produced in 2022 during a brief reunion of P-Square.

This accusation adds another dimension to the brothers’ long-standing conflicts, which ultimately resulted in the dissolution of P-Square.

Fans continue to express hope for reconciliation between the siblings, whose musical collaboration has produced numerous Afrobeat classics that have gained international acclaim.
