Simone Biles, Shanon Biles’ daughter, is someone she wants to get close to.
In a sit-down interview with the Daily Mail, Shanon, the Olympic gold medallist Shanon’s biological mother, expressed optimism that her daughter may ultimately forgive her for her past.
The 52-year-old mother left her toddlers Simone and Adria with their grandparents, Ron and Nellie Biles, due to her battle with drug and alcohol addiction.
Shanon Biles desires to form a relationship with her daughter, Simone Biles.
Shanon, the biological mother of the seven-time Olympic gold medalist, expressed her desire for her daughter to one day absolve her for her past during a sit-down interview with the Daily Mail.
Although the 52-year-old was grappling with drug and alcohol addictions, she left Simone and her younger sister, Adria, to their grandparents, Ron and Nellie Biles, when the girls were only infants.
“I would like to make amends with Simone personally — I’m just waiting for her and [her younger sister] Adria,” Shanon told the outlet. “I speak to Adria more than I speak to Simone. I would just ask her to forgive me. Can we move forward? Don’t judge me on my past. Let’s move forward. I’m waiting for the opportunity but I’m waiting on her to be able to come to me. Let’s sit down. I just have to be patient.”
This discussion transpired subsequent to the gymnast’s acquisition of four medals—three gold and one silver—at the 2024 Paris Olympics, which elevated her career medal tally to 11.
Shanon acknowledged that she assembled her friends and neighbors to watch the game back home in Columbus, Ohio, where Simone and her sister resided prior to their relocation to foster homes and being adopted by her grandparents in Texas.
“What I hear about Simone I hear through my dad. I speak to my dad all the time. We’re good now. It was just his birthday, and I called to wish him happy birthday,” Shanon added. “If I need to know anything I call my dad. I ask him about Simone, and he keeps me posted.”
