Vice President Kashim Shettima has defended President Bola Ahmed Tinubuâs administrationâs tax reforms, arguing that they are intended to help Nigerians rather than hinder the countryâs economy.
The Vice President said as much during the closing retreat of the presidential fiscal policy and tax reforms committee on Saturday in Abuja, according to a statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Stanley Nkwocha.
The Tinubu administration was forced to halt and reevaluate Nigeriaâs course due to the countryâs fiscal dynamics, according to Shettima, who was represented at the event by the Office of the Vice Presidentâs Special Adviser on General Duties.
âOur aim is still to revitalize revenue generation in Nigeria while maintaining a business that is both investment-friendly and globally competitive,â he stated.
The speaker conveyed assurance regarding the tax reforms committeeâs capacity to carry out its mandate, acknowledging the notable transition from planning to execution.
The vice president declared that both the federal and state governments are prepared to assist in ensuring that the committeeâs reforms are implemented successfully.
He restated the governmentâs pledge to supply the institutional backing required to incorporate these suggestions into the administrationâs overall economic plan.
