Actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo has blasted fellow actor and comedian Okey Bakassi for remarks he made disparaging former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.
On Saturday, Kenneth responded on Instagram to a video in which Okey questioned Obi’s capacity to protect Nigerian voters’ votes.
“What I want to ask is, are Nigerians motivated to vote for you?” Okey had questioned. Are you capable of defending our votes?
In a lengthy Instagram post, Kenneth reacted to Okey’s remarks by calling him a hypocrite and making fun of his profession.
His caption partially said, “If this hypocrite believed PO had the capacity to defend our votes, why ask him?
“No wonder he was hiding under his mother’s bed during the campaign while we were risking our lives fighting for the votes, which were later on not defended.”
The actor also criticized Okey’s contributions to Nollywood, claiming, “First of all, in all his movie life, I am not aware of any movie where he played the lead role that ever made a hit.
“It’s not unusual for failures to try to get traffic in their interviews by twisting facts about notable names. Little minds discuss people, and they do it dishonestly.”
Kenneth continued, “I don’t care what hypocrites and opportunists like Okey Bakassi say. Pretenders and sycophants say and do the worst at the back.”
Kenneth, one of the spokespeople for Peter Obi’s presidential campaign council, announced his resignation from the Labour Party last month and criticized Obi’s leadership style.
