Nigerian activist and outspoken critic, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM), did not hold back in his condemnation of the Super Eagles after their disappointing 2-1 loss to Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo. The shocking defeat ignited frustration among fans, with VDM leading the charge in expressing his displeasure.
Although Nigeria had already secured early qualification, the Super Eagles’ offensive display, led by Victor Boniface, lacked cohesion, particularly in the first half. Despite Victor Osimhen‘s introduction, the match did not turn around, even though Samuel Chukwueze managed to score Nigeria’s only goal.
VDM criticized the players for a perceived lack of passion and national pride, emphasizing the team’s breakdown that led to conceding two goals within a five-minute span. He also expressed confusion over why players who perform well in European clubs seemed to lose their competitive edge when representing their country.
In his strong remarks, VDM suggested that certain players were unfit to represent Nigeria, calling on the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to stop making excuses and overhaul the team. He urged the NFF to select players with the necessary skill, passion, and determination to proudly wear the national jersey.
