“You Made a Terrible Choice” – Singer Seun Kuti Criticizes President Tinubu Over Fuel Subsidy Removal

by Bm Bloggers

Seun Anikulapo-Kuti, the famous Afrobeat musician, has sharply criticized President Bola Tinubu for his decision to abolish the fuel subsidy.

He argued that, contrary to the President’s claim that this was a “difficult” choice made for the benefit of the country, it was actually a “cruel decision” that threatens the welfare of Nigerians.

Kuti also condemned the government’s plan to acquire a $150 million jet while the education sector remains critically underfunded. He pointed out that the money spent on the new presidential jet could have been used to build and maintain ten primary schools for twenty years.

During a recent Instagram Live session, the passionate artist questioned, “Who donated for the $150 million jet for Tinubu? Who asked for donations?”

He continued, “That $150 million could build how many schools? Just imagine how long it could sustain a primary school. Ten solid primary schools could be established and operated with that amount for at least two decades, educating ten generations of African children,” he added.

Kuti went on to state, “The President can’t claim that the fuel issue is beyond his control. He is both the President and the Minister of Petroleum. They talk about making tough decisions, but there’s nothing tough about this. President Tinubu made a cruel choice; the whole subsidy removal and floating the dollar—there’s nothing challenging about it.”
