According to Punch News, Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, better known as Falz, revealed that he had a conversation with social media figure Idris Okuneye (aka Bobrisky) regarding Bobriskyâs legal troubles earlier this year. Falz disclosed that during their conversation, Bobrisky asked for âŚ3 million to secure a VIP section at a Correctional Centre.
This statement came in the wake of a legal notice sent by Falana & Falanas Chambers, Falzâs legal team, to Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM). The notice demanded a retraction of defamatory accusations made by VDM, who alleged that Falz had colluded with Bobrisky to âpervert the course of justiceâ by financially assisting him to secure a favorable judicial outcome.
Dated September 26, 2024, the letter from Falzâs lawyer, Taiwo E. Olawanle, clarified the situation, explaining that while Bobrisky sought advice from Falz, the rapper declined any financial involvement, deeming it unnecessary. The letter emphasized that Falz did not participate in any scheme to influence legal proceedings.
The letter detailed, âOn May 4, 2024, Bobrisky contacted our client requesting a conversation. Out of goodwill, our client agreed, assuming Bobrisky might need legal guidance due to the charges against him. However, Bobrisky instead asked for N3 million to allegedly pay officials for access to a VIP section in the Correctional Centre.â
Falzâs legal team emphasised that the rapper did not accept any money, but Bobrisky insisted, blaming his legal team for encouraging him to plead guilty.
Falana and Falana Chambers sought an immediate retraction of the defamatory comments, as well as a public apology on all channels.
Failure to comply within 24 hours would result in legal action, including a claim for damages to Falzâs reputation.
In a viral video, VeryDarkMan cited Bobriskyâs assertion that EFCC officials took N15 million to drop money laundering accusations. Bobrisky denies the charges, and EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede has launched a probe.
